TESTIMONIALS

Ministry in schools

Bairbre Cahill has been facilitating a one day Retreat for our 6th Classes for the last few years, usually in late Spring in advance of their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. We felt that something extra was required to bring an added dimension to the children's understanding of the significance of the Sacrament. In her one day retreats Bairbre successfully brings that dimension. She has a natural empathy with the children, and as well as re-enforcing what they have learned in school challenges them to think more for themselves, to share their thoughts and experiences with their peers and to rejoice and celebrate this special moment on their faith journey. We are delighted with Bairbre’s work and are fortunate to have somebody with her experience based in our locality.

I attended a workshop on family ministry directed by Bairbre Cahill in October 2015. I was attracted by the title – ‘God among the pots and pans. In a lively workshop, Bairbre helped us to see how God is truly to be found ‘among the pots and pans’ in the ordinary and everyday life of a busy family.

Bairbre helped us appreciate how the rhythms and events of family life flow towards the Eucharist and make it all the more meaningful.

I am delighted to endorse the work of Bairbre. Her insights into Christian family life are entirely consistent with those expressed in ‘Amoris Laetitia’ where Pope Francis summarises the fruit of the Synod on the family and emphasises once again, the central place of the family in the life of the Church.

In advance of the World Meeting of Families that will take place in Ireland in August 2018, the ministry of Bairbre is needed and deserves our full support.

I have regularly received the resource Seeds of Faith for a number of years since I met Bairbre some years ago when I travelled to Ireland.

I have found this resource a great support and source of enrichment for both parents and those who work in parish family ministry supporting families. The broad range of areas including; Praying as a family, Reflection on the Gospels, Stepping Stones on the Journey of Faith and Family Spirituality, have a strong focus on putting our faith into practice in family life.

This is another down to earth resource from Bairbre Cahill which enables families to enrich and nourish their lives together.

Theology in Context - pastoral care of the family

Listen at the door of this classroom and you will hear about the hug, the chat over tea, the baking of bread, even the family argument—all deftly interwoven with glistening words like Incarnation, Trinity, Sacrament, and Liturgy; and that is Bairbre’s point. Life in the family shimmers with the Kingdom, and we have been covering it under a bushel! Bairbre Cahill is passionate about uncovering the holy ground that is the family. She has been sharing her insights on ‘Pastoral Care of the Family’ with the Pastoral Theology students at St. Patrick’s College Maynooth for the last two years. She speaks from her experience as a wife and mother; she speaks with theological knowledge and practical wisdom; and she speaks from a place of mature faith. She challenges preconceptions, inspires with her passion; and importantly she offers a way forward pastorally for families to name and claim the faith that they live every day.
